The Saskatoon Hilltops' defence was smashing in 2007.
Defensive lineman Kevin Chave stuffed a key third-down gamble by Regina in the league semi-final.
Linebacker Tomas Irving and defensive back Mitch Friesen returned interceptions for touchdowns in the league final.
Cornerback Gregg Woytowich had an interception and a fumble recovery and lineman Wyatt Jacobi had two sacks in the national championship. The Hilltops won the Canadian junior football title, defeating the St. Leonard Cougars of Montreal in Winnipeg.
Saskatoon started the season with ties in its first two games, then won eight of its next nine games in the regular season and playoffs. The offensive line of Michael Fuller, Chad Kinequon, Chris Kulbida, Chris Mercer and Brad Peters played a big part in the Hilltops' 13th Canadian title, their fourth under head coach Tom Sargeant.
