The 2001 Saskatoon Hilltops posted a record of seven wins in eight starts to finish first in the Prairie Junior Football Conference during the 2001 season. They won their last six games on the schedule.
They eliminated Edmonton Wildcats, 36-3, in the league semifinal and then beat the Edmonton Huskies, 14-13 in the thrilling final. The Hilltops faced adversity in the final. They were down, 13-7, when Tyler Pokoyway came up with an interception with 2:12 left on the clock and then Garett Olver connected with Andrew Ginther for a touchdown, which Jody Kerr converted for the victory. The Hilltops met Okanagan Sun in the Canadian final and walked away with a 45-11 victory.
Olver was named the game's outstanding player, throwing four touchdown passes, two of them to Andrew Ford, and running back Graeme Bell also scored two majors. Gabe Mackasey was voted the game's outstanding defensive player.
