The Saskatoon Liners qualified for the Western Canada senior championships by serving as the tournament host team and they made the best of their opportunities. They won the B-side with a 4-2 victory over Victoria and then they beat the Saskatchewan All-Stars, 15-5 and 5-1, when they needed to win two in a row.
Kevin Frey pitched a five-hitter in the first game against the All-Stars and Roy Kemp pitched a four-hitter in the second game and also hit a two-run homer.
Colin Blyth had a field day in the first game, collecting four hits, including a home run, and batting in six runs. Gary Holliman batted in the winning run in the second game and finished the back-to-back games with five hits.
Jim Elliot's team travelled to St. John's, Newfoundland for the 1982 Canadian championships won two games against New Brunswick, and another against Quebec. They ran into trouble against Windsor, the Ontario champions, losing 4-3, in a preliminary and 9-3 in the final. By reaching the final, they won silver medals.
