The Hilltops had an uphill battle all season but managed to win the big games. The Regina Rams were unbeaten during the regular season. The Hilltops, with a record of five wins and three losses, sidelined the Edmonton Wildcats 24-15 in the semi-final, then won a tough 31-24 contest over the Rams. The western final was another struggle with the Tops winning 28-26over the Richmond Raiders. In the Canadian championship game in Ottawa, the Hilltops beat the Sooners 29-11.
