The Saskatoon Baseball Councils goal is to keep the game fun.
The SBC Inc. began in 1985 as a way for a group of volunteers to lead senior and youth baseball in the city. They help co-ordinate schedules and tournaments. They encourage training programs for coaches and umpires. They work with the city in improving and maintaining ball parks. They promote sportsmanship and team play.
There are six age classes in baseball in Saskatoon, starting at age six and under and extending to age 15 to 17. There are also men's and senior leagues.
Teams in the pee wee to midget divisions are eligible for Western Canadian championships,. Clubs from bantam to midget divisions can compete in the Baseball Canada nationals. For the next two years the SBC is playing host to the Canada Cup for bantam and midget teams.
Marc Lepage is the Baseball Council's president. Inductees in the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame who have served on the SBC include Ed Bryant, Don Cousins, Gerry Heskett and Joe Zeman.
