Football (2018)In 1989, the Saskatchewan Roughriders won the Grey Cup for the first time in 23 years. Mike Anderson was front and centre.
Anderson was on the offensive line as Dave Ridgway kicked a 33-yard field goal on the last play of the game in Toronto's SkyDome to lift the Riders over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
A year earlier, in 1988, the Riders had their first home playoff game at Taylor Field in more than a decade. Anderson helped to make it happen.
Anderson was a prime-time player from the start in the CFL in 1984. He was a guard and centre for 12 years with the Riders, the same team his father, Paul, played for as a lineman in the 1950s.
Mike won the provincial high school football title twice with the Evan Hardy Souls. He reached the league final in the Prairie Football Conference in his single season with the Saskatoon Hilltops, then played college ball in California at College of the Sequoias and San Diego State University.
Mike is married to his wife Michelle and has two Children Maxwell (Danielle daughter in law) and Samuel (Brooke daughter in law) and they are proud grandparents with granddaughter Collins Anderson.
