Curtis LeschyshynCurtis Leschyshyn joined the Saskatoon Blades in 1986-87 at age 16 where he made the move from left wing to defence. He played two seasons on the blue-line with the Blades, and was named a league all-star in 1988.

In the NHL draft in 1988, Leschyshyn was picked third overall by the Quebec Nordiques.

Leschyshyn played 16 years in the NHL from 1988-89 to 2003-04 with Quebec, Colorado, Washington Capitals, Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, Minnesota Wild and Ottawa Senators.

Leschyshyn had 1,033 games in the NHL regular season, scoring 47 goals and adding 165 assists. He was also in 68 playoff games, the highlight coming in the spring of 1996.

The Colorado Avalanche swept the Florida Panthers in four games to win their first Stanley Cup championship.

He represented Canada at the 1990 world championship in Switzerland, placing fourth.

A medallist in pole vault and hurdles in the high school track and field championships with Holy Cross.

In 2011, he was on the CBC figure skating show Battle of the Blades.
